During the transient build-up period of the lab (usually about 1.5 - 2 years), roles and responsibilities of the lab staff will be fulfilled by local Afghans and augmented by volunteer expats.
In addition to the manager who is not expected to be present in the lab on a daily basis, there are three staff positions in the fab lab who collectively care for the lab facility, equipment, and the user community on a regular and daily basis.
lab manager

Responsibilities
The lab manager position is split by necessity into two people, an in-country manager and expat manager.
- disperses salaries
- prepares budget statements
- prepares budget estimates
- responsible for petty cash
- prepares cash book summary (monthly)
- coordinates and hires electricians, laborers, repair men, etc
- contract negotiation for hired jobs (technical estimation, schedule, etc)
- gathers clear technical requirements from customer
- identifies and pursues appropriate contract jobs that suit the experiential learning needs of the students
lab coordinator
Name: Wahida jan
Responsiblities
- prepares lab activity report (weekly)
- responsible for lab use scheduling
- monitors and reports on assistants' performance
- ensures quality of product and that the product meets the customer requirements as agreed
- with the community access assistant, develops "open community time" goals and curriculum
- Cleaning the Lab

Name: Talwar
Responsibilities
- take inventory of materials weekly
- fills out and tracks equipment trouble reports
- responsible for tasking cleaning among the users and staff (the staff, which includes the manager, is expected to take part in cleaning the lab)
- prepares and updates "standard operating procedures" in the lab including usage rules for machines, equipment, and materials
- assists in community access projects and instruction
- manages production against contracted schedule
- makes staff schedule
- submits material and restocking requests to lab manager
Teacher (takes care of people)
Shared duties
- writes and posts blog entries on students
- assists in community access projects and instruction
- maintains attendance record of students
